About Rambouillet territories

Rambouillet territories is a rural agglomeration community located 50 km from Paris, halfway between Dreux, Chartres, Saclay and Grand Paris, which combines the strengths of a vibrant territory with the charm of a tourist region with an important Natural and cultural heritage. Since 1 January 2017, it has regrouped 36 communes with 80 000 inhabitants. The community elected representatives chose a “smart city” model of development to build a territory project that combines economic development, preservation of quality of life and implementation of intelligent networks. In this context, the Community elected representatives decided to prioritise transport, mobility, digital coverage and e-services by focusing on a living lab-or living laboratory approach-based on experimentation and innovation in Service of the inhabitant. However, 99% of personal and professional displacement-outside city centre-can only be done by using its private vehicle because transit solutions are non-existent because they are not economically viable in rural areas that are not dense. Thus, the Tornado project as presented here is a first step in this more comprehensive approach to the Territory, through technical development associated with societal surveys prefiguring new mobility services.
